Baseball Recap: Lincoln Northeast Beats Crete for Their Third Straight Victory

Lincoln Northeast had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Crete on Saturday. The Rockets put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 6-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Rockets sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The result came thanks to Jordan Lemon's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Van Dyke, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Jaxon Volkmer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Lincoln Northeast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lincoln Northeast's record now sits at 14-10. As for Crete, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-12.

Coming up, Lincoln Northeast will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln Southwest at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Silver Hawks have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. Crete does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
