Basketball Game Preview: Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes vs. Tamaqua Blue Raiders

The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes and the Tamaqua Blue Raiders will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Schuylkill Haven took their match with ease, bagging a 68-31 win over Mahanoy Area. That 37 point margin sets a new team best for the Hurricanes this season.

Meanwhile, Tamaqua fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Saucon Valley on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the Panthers. The Blue Raiders' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Schuylkill Haven's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Tamaqua, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Schuylkill Haven didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Tamaqua when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 67-62 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Tamaqua's Connor Dillon, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 27 points and five assists. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be easier for Schuylkill Haven to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
