Baseball Recap: Bristol Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

Bristol hadn't done well against Grand Valley recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 7-3. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 7-2 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2018.

Kaiden Kohler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Croc Thorp was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Bristol's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Diesel Williams also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Bristol was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in three consecutive games.

Bristol has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Grand Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 11-3 record.

Looking ahead, Bristol will take on Beachwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Grand Valley, they will challenge Pymatuning Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
