Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Reds vs. Dixie Flyers

Cedar is 0-10 against Dixie since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Reds are taking a road trip to challenge the Flyers at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Things were looking good for Cedar after they put the first runs on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Pine View by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Reds couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Dixie faced Desert Hills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Flyers came up short against the Thunder, falling 15-5.

Dixie saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Hunt, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Hunt has become a key player for the Flyers: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Weston Gilmore was another, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Cedar's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-5. As for Dixie, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Cedar suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Dixie when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Reds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
