Baseball Recap: Gila Ridge Takes a Loss

Gila Ridge was the 6-5 winner over Cibola when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Hawks fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hawks have suffered since March 23, 2024.

Gila Ridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Foppe, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Gila Ridge's defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Cibola, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Gila Ridge and Cibola could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. The Hawks (ranked 173rd) will meet Kofa (ranked 49th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Cibola will face off against Highland at 3:45 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (94 vs. 23).
