NFL's top cornerback tells students at his former Dominguez (Compton, Calif.) high school that the key to success is focus and hard work.

It was brash, loud and seemingly uncalled for. Some thought it was awesome and showed his sheer passion.
Those who know the Seahawks All-Pro cornerback say he's all things good about sports and even humanity.
He definitely showed the latter side while talking with students, athletes, coaches and teachers at his old high school recently.
Sherman told a gym full at
Dominguez (Compton, Calif.) the keys to succeeding at life, that it's a road filled with obstacles and pitfalls, but one fruitful if one stays focused and works hard.
"Everyone looks at my situation and says he's a kid from Compton who is suddenly a millionaire," he said. "I think people kind of forget about all the hard work, all the hard days at track practice, all the hard football practices, all the long days studying in class."
At Dominguez, Sherman was quite the two-sport standout, accounting for 1,030 all-purpose yards while also starring at cornerback for the Southern Section Division III champions. In track, he had national-type marks in the 100 meters (10.77 seconds), 110 hurdles (13.99), long jump (23 feet, 7 inches) and triple jump (50-6).
On top of that, he graduated with a 4.2 grade point average before landing at Stanford and was voted by classmates as most likely male student to succeed.
