Softball Recap: Layton Lancers vs. Syracuse Titans

Layton had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-16 to make it four. They lost 17-2 to the Syracuse Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-12 on April 10th.

As for Syracuse, their win bumped their record up to 13-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

For Syracuse's part, Haydin Giatras looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Syracuse let Olivia Harker and Grace Thomas run wild. Harker went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Thomas went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those two doubles gave Harker a new career-high. Jazmine Prathan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Layton will take on Bountiful at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The RedHawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight.
