Softball Recap: Chapin Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

Chapin lost to Burges on April 2nd, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jaedyne Armendariz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Armendariz was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yaretzi Acosta, who went 2-for-5 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ariana Manriquez, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Chapin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matchups.

Chapin is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Burges, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Chapin nor Burges have any future games scheduled.
