Baseball Recap: Gorton Wolves vs. Roosevelt Sharks
Gorton proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by nine) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Roosevelt Sharks. Winning may never get old, but Gorton sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
The team relied heavily on Julius Vargas, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayvien Rodriguez, who went 3-for-3 with three RBI.
The win got Gorton back to even at 3-3. As for Roosevelt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gorton will take on Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Roosevelt, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Yonkers at 4:30 p.m. on May 6th.
