Softball Preview: Credo Gryphon vs. Willits Wolverines
The Credo Gryphon will square off against the Willits Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Credo knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Willits likes a good challenge.
On Thursday, Credo got the win against Laytonville by a conclusive 19-3. The Gryphon have beaten the Warriors the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.
Miela Beeton was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Giada Saechao, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Beeton wasn't the only one making solid contact: Credo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for the Gryphon: they were averaging 3.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.
Meanwhile, Willits didn't have quite enough to beat Middletown last Wednesday and fell 11-9.
Willits' loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Credo, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
