Baseball Recap: Lakeview Centennial Triumphs

Lakeview Centennial let Garland stack eight runs on them in the fourth inning on Wednesday but luckily Lakeview Centennial prevailed anyway. The Patriots sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Owls. This was payback for the Patriots, who suffered an 11-10 loss the last time these two teams met.

Coleman Hedgecock made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Lakeview Centennial's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 4-12 when he doesn't). Hedgecock was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kingston Gary was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Lakeview Centennial: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise. Ahmod Smith also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lakeview Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lakeview Centennial's record is now 7-12. As for Garland, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.

Lakeview Centennial will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Owls: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
