Volleyball Recap: Clear Creek Golddiggers vs. SkyView Academy Hawks
Clear Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the SkyView Academy Hawks. The Golddiggers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Clear Creek actually scored more points across those five sets (104-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 13-25, 25-22, 25-19, 20-25, 15-13.
Kambrey Martin paced Clear Creek's offense, picking up nine kills. Martin were helped by Kiera Ginter and Shauna Moutray, who contributed nine assists each. Martin was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.
Taylor Bales was the offensive standout of the match as she had 20 digs and three assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in September.
Clear Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for SkyView Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
Looking ahead, Clear Creek is taking a road trip to take on Belleview Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for SkyView Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Heritage Christian on the 9th.
