Baseball Game Preview: Benjamin Buccaneers vs. Dwyer Panthers

The Benjamin Buccaneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Dwyer Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Benjamin is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since April 24, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against St. John Paul II Academy, falling 13-5. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Benjamin got a good showing from Thomas Harris, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Harris also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Benjamin is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Benjamin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Buchanan, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Dwyer won against Grace Christian on Monday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Dwyer beat Grace Christian Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Holt Flowers looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

Benjamin's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Dwyer, their record is now 4-5.

Benjamin couldn't quite get it done against Dwyer in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can Benjamin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
