Volleyball Recap: Lexington Falls Despite Big Games from Gisselle Maravilla and Aubrey Ackerson

Lexington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Gothenburg Swedes. The Minutemen were not able to make up for their defeat to the Swedes from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Lexington started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-22.

Lexington's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aubrey Ackerson, who had 15 digs, and Gisselle Maravilla, who had 11 digs and one assist.

Gothenburg was led to victory by Ellaray Koch and Aubry Hall. Koch had 13 digs and two aces, while Hall had 17 digs. Those two aces gave Koch a new career-high.

Lexington's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Gothenburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Lexington has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Lakeview on the 16th. As for Gothenburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Holdrege on the 14th.
