Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Ridge Sentinels vs. Orem Tigers

The Mountain Ridge Sentinels are taking a road trip to take on the Orem Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mountain Ridge comes in on five and Orem on six.

Mountain Ridge lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Viewmont, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. Mountain Ridge put the hurt on Viewmont with a sharp 7-1 victory on Wednesday.

Ethan Iacono was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Kaden Goodsell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Iacono wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Mountain Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Viewmont only managed three hits.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Orem ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Woods Cross. Four seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Mountain Ridge's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Orem, their record now sits at 7-2.

Mountain Ridge might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Orem when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can Mountain Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
