Basketball Recap: Alhambra Takes Down Sierra Vista in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Alhambra walked away with it. They walked away with a 72-59 win over the Sierra Vista Dons on Thursday. The Moors haven't had any issues with the Dons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

When it comes to explaining why Sierra Vista lost, don't look at Aaron Buna. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field en route to 26 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Buna is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Peter Albir, who posted nine points and eight boards.

Alhambra's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. As for Sierra Vista, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-12.

Alhambra wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 75-50 defeat against Math & Science College Preparatory on the 8th. Sierra Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
