Football Game Preview: Grove City Eagles vs. Conneaut Area Eagles

Two dominant backs in Gavin Purdy and Aidan Ford are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Grove City will host Conneaut Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grove City is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Grove City came up short against Hickory and fell 21-14. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Hornets are ranked 76th).

Meanwhile, Conneaut Area played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 47-7 loss at the hands of Sharon. The Eagles have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Conneaut Area's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Grove City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Grove City took a serious blow against Conneaut Area in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 40-7. Thankfully for Grove City, Joseph Furgiuele Iv (who rushed for 228 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 32 receiving yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
