Basketball Recap: St. Johns Country Day Extends Winning Streak to Two + How To Watch

St. Johns Country Day won the last time they faced Middleburg and Kendall Proffitt did her part to make sure it happened again. The Spartans breezed past the Broncos to the tune of 77-37 on Friday thanks in part to Proffitt, who shot 7-for-13 from deep and dropped a double-double with 31 points and 17 rebounds. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least 15 points.

Sophia Mejias was another key player, going 6-for-14 on her way to 15 points in addition to five assists and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Middleburg had strong showings from Kennedy Jeffress, who posted 13 points and seven boards, and Sophia Butler, who scored four points and eight rebounds. That was a full 35.1% of the Broncos' points, marking the third time in a row Jeffress has earned more than a third of the team's points.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Johns Country Day and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points over those games. As for Middleburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, St. Johns Country Day will take on Centennial in a tournament on Monday. As for Middleburg, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Orange Park at 7:00 p.m. on December 1.
