Baseball Game Preview: Ridley Raiders vs. Centreville Wildcats

The Ridley Raiders will take on the Centreville Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Ridley is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Last Wednesday, Ridley came up short against Radnor and fell 6-3. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly three runs.

John Teehan was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Joey McGuire also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Centreville hadn't done well against South Lakes recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Seahawks. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Dylan Hassan looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Centreville's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ian Weber, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Centreville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Ridley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
