Basketball Recap: Crockett Triumphs

Crockett proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 33) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 win over the Taylor Ducks. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 59-58 victory the Ducks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.

Taylor's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Markell Fitzgerald, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 14 points. Fitzgerald is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kadrien Deary, who posted 11 points.

Crockett's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Taylor, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Crockett wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-45 defeat against Caney Creek on the 5th. As for Taylor, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-53 victory against Travis on the 5th.
