Softball Recap: Mountain View Has No Trouble Against Half Moon Bay

Mountain View's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Half Moon Bay Cougars 11-0. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

Allison Marcelino made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Marcelino was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taja Buell and Caroline Kim did most of the damage at the plate: Buell scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Kim scored a run while going 2-for-3. Courtenay Nappo also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mountain View's record now sits at 3-7. As for Half Moon Bay, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain View will host Homestead at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View's pitchers better be ready for this one: Homestead has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Half Moon Bay, they will welcome University at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
