Basketball Recap: Rifle's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

Rifle needed a changed in momentum after dropping nine straight games and they got it from Eliezer Vega. The Rifle Bears snuck past the Grand Valley Cardinals with a 62-57 win on Tuesday thanks in part to Vega, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Daniel Gronewoller and Andrew Horner certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Gronewoller dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Horner went 5 of 9 en route to 18 points. The matchup was Horner's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leonardo De La Cruz, who posted nine points.

Rifle's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-13. As for Grand Valley, their record now sits at 6-10.

Rifle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-36 defeat against Basalt on the 31st. Grand Valley has also already played their next contest, a 60-53 win against Gunnison on the 31st.
