Football Recap: Johnson Knights vs. Pickens Dragons
Johnson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 62-6 loss at the hands of the Pickens Dragons. The Knights lost against the Dragons in their previous head to head back in September of 2015, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 24-14 score last time.
Pickens found their leader in underclassman Ike Wyngaard, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Hagen Mullins, who rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Pickens, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson and North Hall are set to duel on Friday. North Hall is coming into the game with three straight victories at home, so Johnson will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Pickens, they will face off against Greater Atlanta Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 959 yards in their previous games.
