Preview: Bishop Gorman Crusaders vs. Lakehill Prep Warriors

Bishop Gorman has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Lakehill Prep Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bishop Gorman is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakehill Prep in Texas (Bishop Gorman is ranked 515th, while Lakehill Prep is ranked 1215th).

Bishop Gorman can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent game on Monday. They claimed a resounding 81-23 victory over Cornerstone Christian Academy at home. That 58 points margin sets a new team best for Bishop Gorman this season.

Bishop Gorman relied on the efforts of Carlin Ifeadi, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Ryan Richbourg, who scored 16 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ifeadi has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of David Phillips, who scored eight points along with two steals and two blocks.

Meanwhile, Lakehill Prep didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against North Dallas Adventist Academy on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 53-47 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lakehill Prep.

Drew Perry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Lakehill Prep's points. Mercer Palamar was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Bishop Gorman pushed their record up to 23-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Lakehill Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bishop Gorman have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lakehill Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Everything went Bishop Gorman's way against Lakehill Prep when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as Bishop Gorman made off with a 62-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Gorman since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
