Basketball Game Preview: Biddeford Tigers vs. Marshwood Hawks

Biddeford is 0-10 against Marshwood since January of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Biddeford comes in on three and Marshwood on seven.

If Biddeford beats Marshwood with 47 points on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Biddeford enjoyed a cozy 47-28 win over Freeport on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Marshwood faced Gray-New Gloucester in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Saturday. Marshwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Gray-New Gloucester, sneaking past 59-56. While the Hawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Biddeford pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Marshwood, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Things could have been worse for Biddeford, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-28 loss to Marshwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Can Biddeford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
