North Gaston and East Gaston are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North Gaston's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Bessemer City. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won three in a row.

North Gaston let Layla Love and Maddie Carpenter run wild. Love went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Carpenter scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four RBI gave Love a new career-high. Kaydance Hampton was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: North Gaston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, East Gaston was not the first on the board last Wednesday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against Lincoln Charter as they made off with a 13-3 win. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Madi Perrigo was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, East Gaston got a massive performance out of Lilly Rymer, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Molly Kuproski, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
East Gaston pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Gaston, their record is now 7-9.
North Gaston might still be hurting after the 23-10 defeat they got from East Gaston when the teams last played back in March. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
