3A Conference 17 recap November 19, 2013
Havelock extended the longest winning streak in 3A Conference 17 this week by beating Topsail, 48-0. The win marks 12th in a row for the the Rams.
Havelock took down the Pirates 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Swansboro's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Phipps threw for 68 and 1 touchdown and Markuise Hemby had 45 yards receiving. On the ground Phipps chipped in 100 yards. Deandre Thompkins helped Swansboro's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 15 yards.
The Pirates' dynamic duo of Phipps and Hemby proved tough for Southern Nash to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Thompkins helped Swansboro's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 15 yards.
Luke Frantz was a key player and the best on defense this week as Swansboro fell to the Firebirds. The 5-foot-9 junior recorded 1 fumble.
Jim Bryant's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Topsail.
