Softball Recap: Diamond Ranch Comes Up Short

After flying high against Chaffey last Friday, Diamond Ranch came back down to earth. The Panthers fell just short of the San Dimas Saints by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Izel Avalos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

Diamond Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for San Dimas, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season.

Diamond Ranch wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 17-1 victory against Edgewood on the 28th. As for San Dimas, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-2 defeat against Charter Oak on the 27th.
