Volleyball Recap: Jake Morrison and Nolan Spann Secure Win for La Jolla

La Jolla took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Cathedral Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The La Jolla Vikings came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cathedral Catholic Dons on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-2. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (110-101) La Jolla actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 8-25, 26-24, 25-19, 23-25, 19-17.

La Jolla was led to victory by Nolan Spann and Jake Morrison. Spann had 17 digs and two assists, while Morrison had 12 kills, six digs, and one block. That's the most digs Spann has posted since back in April of 2024.

The win got La Jolla back to even at 3-3. As for Cathedral Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, La Jolla and University City will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court one another at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cathedral Catholic, they will host Foothills Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
