Baseball Recap: Yulee Wins Going Away Against Cedar Creek Christian

After only two runs in their last contest, Yulee made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cedar Creek Christian on Wednesday. The Yulee Hornets blew past the Cedar Creek Christian Saints 15-0. Considering the Hornets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Anderson Hammond made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hammond was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Evan Wands was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Alex Davis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Yulee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cedar Creek Christian only posted an OBP of .412.

The victory snapped Yulee's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-7 record. As for Cedar Creek Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yulee will venture away from home to square off against Suwannee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cedar Creek Christian, they are taking a road trip to take on Parsons Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Parsons Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
