Volleyball Recap: Portage Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Portage and Mount Horeb squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Portage had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-1 loss two weeks ago.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-16, 17-25, 25-14.

Addison Zuther paced Portage's offense, picking up nine kills. Zuther got some help from Kate Stevenson and her 12 assists. Stevenson and Zuther didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

Portage's loss dropped their record down to 21-17. As for Mount Horeb, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season.

Portage does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mount Horeb, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Edgewood on the 25th.
