Softball Recap: Tamaqua Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Tamaqua took a 18-run loss the last time they faced off against Blue Mountain, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Raiders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 1-0 shutout on Monday. For the Blue Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 19-1 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Naomi Knitter tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Tamaqua secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Kolbe Robb, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Another was Leah Crowley, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Tamaqua and bumps their season record up to 9-5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Blue Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

Tamaqua will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
