Basketball Recap: Wando Takes a Loss

Wando was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Philip Simmons Iron Horses. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Iron Horses earlier this season, when they won 70-54.

When it comes to explaining why Wando lost, don't look at Tait Horine. Despite the final result, he posted ten points along with eight boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sully Templeton, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Wando smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Philip Simmons' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Darby, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. Darby is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hopper Afman, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Wando's record is now 2-8. As for Philip Simmons, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Wando wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-48 loss against West Ashley on the 19th. As for Philip Simmons, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 45-38 defeat against Berkeley on the 18th.
