Basketball Game Preview: Reed-Custer Comets vs. Lisle Lions

Reed-Custer is 2-8 against Lisle since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Reed-Custer Comets will square off against the Lisle Lions at 6:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Reed-Custer is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since December 19, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Coal City by a score of 40-37.

Despite their loss, Reed-Custer saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Harlie Liebermann, who posted nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Morgan Toler, who earned six points.

Even though they lost, Reed-Custer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lisle challenged Regina Dominican on Saturday. Lisle fell 48-36 to Regina Dominican. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while the Panthers are ranked 221st).

Reed-Custer's record now sits at 12-14. As for Lisle, their record now sits at 11-18.

Reed-Custer came up short against Lisle when the teams last played back in January, falling 36-31. Can Reed-Custer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
