Baseball Recap: Polytech Find Success

Polytech came out on top against Milford on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Panthers took their matchup against the Buccaneers 9-4. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Buccaneers, too.

Ryan Zimmerman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hermes Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Asher Grubb, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Polytech and bumps their season record up to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Milford, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.

Coming up, Polytech will host DuPont at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Milford, they are taking a road trip to take on Woodbridge at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Buccaneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
