Basketball Recap: Bishop Manogue Falls Short Against Ranked Spanish Springs

On Tuesday, Bishop Manogue faced Spanish Springs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Bishop Manogue Miners fell 50-39 to the Spanish Springs Cougars. The Miners' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Bishop Manogue's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josie Williamson, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Williamson has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Hall, who posted 14 points and four steals.

Spanish Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooklyn Doyle led the charge by putting up eight points along with nine rebounds and six blocks. The dominant performance also gave Doyle a new career-high in assists (four).
