Soccer Game Preview: King City vs. Seaside

The King City Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Seaside Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. King City's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

King City is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Neither they nor North Salinas could gain the upper hand on Friday so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Seaside fell victim to Harbor and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 621st, while the Pirates are ranked 125th).

Seaside now has a losing record at 2-3-1. King City's draw makes their record 0-3-1 this season.

King City beat Seaside 4-2 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for King City since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
