Basketball Game Preview: Grandview Bulldogs vs. Excelsior Springs Tigers

Grandview is 4-0 against Excelsior Springs since December of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Grandview Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Excelsior Springs Tigers at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grandview has three straight victories, Excelsior Springs has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Grandview blew past Fort Zumwalt East, posting a 61-21 win. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 29 points or more this season.

Grandview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jada Smith out in front who posted ten points along with seven boards and seven steals. That's the most steals Smith has posted since back in January of 2024. Taniya Cruthird was another key player, putting up 13 points and five rebounds.

Grandview was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Excelsior Springs came up short against Mt. Vernon two weeks ago and fell 53-43. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly ten points.

Excelsior Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Grandview, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Grandview against Excelsior Springs when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 76-15 victory. Will Grandview repeat their success, or does Excelsior Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
