Baseball Game Preview: Rancho Rams vs. Cheyenne Desert Shields

The Rancho Rams will face off against the Cheyenne Desert Shields at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Rancho is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Canyon Springs get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Rams as they're now sitting on three straight.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cheyenne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Sports Leadership & Management 12-2 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Desert Shields in their matchups with the Bulls: they've now won four in a row.

Cheyenne let Tapa Gamoras and Taven Thaker run wild. Gamoras got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Thaker got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cheyenne is undefeated when Thaker posts two or more runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Raymundo Chevalier, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Cheyenne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sports Leadership & Management only posted an OBP of .350.

Cheyenne's victory bumped their record up to 20-10. As for Rancho, their win bumped their record up to 14-15.

Everything went Rancho's way against Cheyenne when the teams last played back in March of 2019, as Rancho made off with a 16-0 victory. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Desert Shields turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
