Football Game Preview: Payton College Prep Grizzlies vs. Kenwood Broncos + Official Tickets

The Payton College Prep Grizzlies will head out to take on the Kenwood Broncos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Payton College Prep barely beat Clark the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Grizzlies' defense stepped up to hand the Eagles a 34-0 shutout on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Joshua Williams had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.

Payton College Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as John Seward, Williams, and Issac Wilson picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kenwood). They claimed a resounding 49-6 win over Taft. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Broncos' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Eagles are ranked 339th).

Payton College Prep better keep an eye on Kenyonte Louis. He was instrumental in Kenwood's win, throwing for 331 yards and five TDs on only 17 passes, while also rushing for 43 yards and one score. Drake Harris was Louis' top target, picking up 33 receiving yards, while also rushing for 74 yards and one touchdown.

Payton College Prep's record is now 6-0. As for Kenwood, their record now sits at 5-1.

Payton College Prep was taken down by Kenwood 27-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Grizzlies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
