Softball Recap: Covenant Day Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Covenant Day proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 17) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since May 10, 2024.

Reilly Jane (RJ) Llaneza made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Houseton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Kaitlyn Allen was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Covenant Day pushed their record up to 9-1-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.3 runs. As for Ashley Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Lions coming up. As for Ashley Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against White Knoll at 12:45 p.m. on March 28th.
