League recap: Center win leads to rise in state rank

Center moved up to 271 from 330 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Pioneer Valley. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of a 28-24 win over Vanden.

Placer extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Woodcreek, 54-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Colfax's dynamic duo of Michael Wilson and Kyle Bryant proved tough for Mesa Verde to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wilson threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns and Bryant had 113 yards receiving. Chas Reisinger helped Colfax's passing attack out by catching four balls for 69 yards.

J'Sean Harwood made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bear River defeated Scotts Valley. The 5-foot-8 senior racked up two sacks.

James Hubbard was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 319 yards on 25 carries as Lincoln topped the Mavericks. Teammate Cameron Tatem added to the ground attack by rushing for 60 yards.

Colfax's Wilson and Bryant have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Pioneer Valley in both passing and receiving yards. Wilson has thrown for 1356 yards this season, while Bryant has 23 catches for 526 yards. Hubbard from the Fighting Zebras leads the league in rushing with 759 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Placer takes on Foothill. Joey Montoya's team's offense has racked up 249 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Mustangs have allowed only 193 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Tony Martello's team takes on the Bruins. The Falcons are in fifth place, while Bear River is in second place.

The Hillmen took down the Timberwolves 54-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Peter Denham threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
