Basketball Recap: Iraan Takes a Loss

If Iraan was riding high fresh off their 65-27 takedown of Fort Hancock last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Iraan Braves fell 56-45 to the Wink Wildcats on Tuesday. The Braves have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wink to victory, but perhaps none more so than Layne Lusby, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. Lusby is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Tally, who put up ten points and eight boards.

Iraan's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Wink, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-9.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Van Horn the next time they take the court. Iraan will head out to face Van Horn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Wink will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
