Preview: Lee's Summit Tigers vs. Staley Falcons
Lee's Summit is 0-10 against Staley since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lee's Summit Tigers will look to defend their home court against the Staley Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Even though Lee's Summit has not done well against Lee's Summit West recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lee's Summit was the clear victor by a 63-39 margin over Lee's Summit West. Given Lee's Summit's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Lee's Summit West is ranked 331st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Staley entered their tilt with Notre Dame de Sion with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Staley took their match on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 58-24 victory over Notre Dame de Sion. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Staley has posted since November 30, 2023.
The win makes it two in a row for Lee's Summit and bumps their season record up to 10-3. As for Staley, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Lee's Summit might still be hurting after the 62-41 defeat they got from Staley in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Lee's Summit avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
