Baseball Recap: Edgewater Victorious

Edgewater's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Colonial Grenadiers, sneaking past 3-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Grenadiers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Robert Viera III spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Edgewater is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Coron Victor, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Yusef Charles was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Edgewater now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Colonial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewater will challenge Ocoee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Colonial, they will square off against Jones at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
