It's playoff time, and Brookeland had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Oakwood Panthers a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Paige Powell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caylee Morgan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Carlee Justice was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Brookeland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakwood only posted an OBP of .077.

Brookeland's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Oakwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Brookeland didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 victory against Broaddus on the 9th. Oakwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
