The Tremont Turks will head out on the road to challenge the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tremont is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
While Tremont's win against Delavan wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Turks had just enough and edged out the Panthers 2-1 on Tuesday.

Maddie Feagin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
Feagin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Genesis Stuber, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.
Villa Grove hit Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley with a six-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons fell 9-5 to the Blue Devils. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost five in a row.
Like Tremont, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley also got a great game from a two-way player: Izzy Gawthrop. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Gawthrop gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Taylor Beck made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Mallory Rosendahl was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Tremont, their record is now 5-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Tremont hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Tremont's way against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Tremont made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Turks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
