Basketball Recap: Northeast's Losing Streak Snapped at 20 Games

Northeast had to endure a 20-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They breezed by Connexions Leadership Academy to the tune of 70-12 on Wednesday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 36 point advantage.

Northeast's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Burris, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Those 15 points gave Burris a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Jones, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and four steals.

Northeast's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Northeast will look to defend their home court on Monday against Severn School at 5:30 p.m. As for Connexions Leadership Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on SEED at 4:00 p.m. on February 24, 2025.
