Baseball Game Preview: Lamar Silver Foxes vs. Lake City Panthers

The Lamar Silver Foxes will venture away from home to square off against the Lake City Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lamar knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Lake City likes a good challenge.

Lamar's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Lee Central 18-0. The result was nothing new for the Silver Foxes, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ethan Munn was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Lamar's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Zori Pierce was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Lamar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Lake City was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They came up short against East Lincoln, falling 9-2.

Lamar's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Lake City, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Lamar suffered a grim 21-11 defeat to Lake City when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can the Silver Foxes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
