Preview: Rustburg Red Devils vs. Heritage Pioneers
Rustburg is 8-2 against the Pioneers since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rustburg Red Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Heritage Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Rustburg and seven for the Pioneers.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-19, which was the final score in Rustburg's tilt against the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rustburg in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Rustburg saw an underclassman step up: Lena Rosser scored six points.
Meanwhile, Heritage came up short against the Lancers on Tuesday and fell 61-50.
Rustburg dropped their record down to 9-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
Rustburg strolled past the Pioneers in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 47-33. Does Rustburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pioneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
